What Kind of Teacher Are You?

Find out what kind of teacher you are:

To get the student's attention, you

Flick the lights

Ask students to be quiet

Raise your voice to be heard over the noise

Use a signal (hand raised, clap pattern)

When students are working on an assignment, you

Sit at your desk and grade papers

Keep asking students to focus and try

Watch for any student not on task

Walk around and monitor student progress

When a student calls out in class, you

Thank the student for the answer and gently remind him that next time he needs to raise his hand first

Ignore it and continue teaching

Ask the student to pleeaassee remember to raise his and before calling out

Quickly correct the student and remind him of the rules

Johnnie comes to you in tears after being hit on the playground, you

Have Johnnie and the other student apologize to each other

Tell Johnnie that it's ok and you will talk to the other student

Send Johnnie to the school counselor

Quickly discipline the student who started the fight

Your students:

Have their share of problems, but understand the consequences for their actions

Often disobey and you're not sure what you are doing wrong

Know that you are in charge and would never disobey

Are out of control

You find yourself often...

Being ignored by students, but it doesn't really bother you.

Sharing times of learning without having to give many commands.

Repeating yourself several times over.

Raising your voice to be heard above the students.

You would describe your students as:

A great group of students!

Um, I'm not sure?

Obedient.

Frustrating - they just don't listen!
